Module 5

On this weeks reading and resources we were presented with different concept such as motivation in leaning and teaching in chapter 12. In chapter 14 , teaching itself is talked about, and the focus of chapter 15 is classroom assessment, grading and testing. I would like to focus my blog on the topics presented in chapter 14.
Chapter 14 started out by introducing the qualities of an effective teacher. Planning was an important topic introduced at the beginning of the chapter. Planning is when a teacher creatively and with flexibility considers students backgrounds, interest, abilities and accommodations needed in order to properly lesson plan for the students.  Learning targets were also introduced , the book states that leaning targets include objectives, state goals, while making usage of flexible and creative teaching plans. It is emphasize that a teacher should consider different aspects when lesson planning such as Bloom's Taxonomy, differentiated instruction and teacher expectations.
Blooms Taxonomy was introduced in detail. The taxonomy is made up of 3 domain and each domain has its own subcategories. The three domains are cognitive, effective and psycho-motor. The cognitive domain is creating, evaluating, analyzing, applying, understanding and remembering. The effective domain includes: receiving, responding, value, organization and characterization. The psycho-motor focuses on the physical ability to perform certain specific skills.

Blooms Taxonomy is very important aspect of teaching, I plan to always keep in mind this when lesson planning. Working on developing my own test according to blooms taxonomy helped me realize how important it is to properly target the mastering of skills on the different levels of the taxonomy. The more complex the level the more skills a student uses. I was also able to reflect how important it is ti create assignments that encourage higher thinking skills.
